Family Luau

Last Saturday was our awesome Family Luau held at Uncle Glen & Aunt Connie's house in Sandy! Being that there is plenty of us cousins who have summer birthdays we have a huge bash to have one big birthday celebration which we had in the manner of a LUAU!
Plenty of fruit and delicious treats, tiki torches, fireworks, leis, hula skirts, coconut tops and an attempted family favorite game! Every second was enjoyable! Thank you everyone who made this gathering such a great one!

Self-Esteem

I don't think one can drive down the street and not pass several billboards advertising some type of beauty perfecting product, open a magazine without seeing 10 different ads with weight loss pills, botox, cellulite cream, etc! It is what our world is obsessed with...BEAUTY...outter beauty at any cost and sacrifice. I believe that it is one thing to have proper grooming and to be presentable in a clean and neat way but it is another to become obsessed and enslaved to perfecting our outward appearance. I know I can speak for many women my age, older, and younger when I say that there is mounts of pressure to conform to a specific look, a specific size, a specific hair length the list is endless. I know one thing and that is that I do not want my daughter to feel this pressure , to feel her body insufficent by age 8, to conform. I know that I will not be albe to protect her from everything but I hope for her to be herself and to love herself just the way God made her. I saw this commercial and it lit a spark. OOOKaayyyyy

Last night we had a double date. After a haggle over whether to see Hancock or Get Smart, Dan won and we purchased four tickets to "Get Smart". One minute into the movie and Dan and I wanted to split. It was Austin Powersish (sorry Austin Powers fans)...so no thanks. But the next minute I was in stitches in Dan's lap and the minute after that I was in tears and the next minute and the next minute. Anne Hathaway is okay, the Rock is handsome, but STEVE CARELL steals the show so if you are even one bit of a STEVE CARELL fan this is a must see!

Now on to the second half of the date. The SWEET oh so SWEET ending! We ventured over to Smart Cookie.
I have a lot of mixed feelings really. I believe it is only for those with a sweet tooth the size of Japan! They have an array of cookies which you can have just a single OR you can go big and order the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwhich. Choose any two cookies of your choice and a flavor of ice cream to smash between and thats the beginning of the most sugar you have ever consumed in one sitting! They also have frozen hot chocolate, ice cream cookie shake, cookies and milk, and any thing else you could imagine to do with cookies! INDULGE! Just try not to throw up.
